Dr. Salim Vally, director of the Centre for Education Rights and Transformation at the University of Johannesburg, was recently invited by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation's Jerusalem office to visit Palestine and deliver a series of lectures, including a keynote address at Birzeit University in Ramallah. He was unfortunately detained by Israeli soldiers at the Allenby Bridge border crossing between Jordan and Palestine. After a five hour ordeal, which included an interrogation and a strip search, he was denied entry to Palestine.

Vally talks to Fazila Farouk, executive director of SACSIS, about his treatment at the hands of Israeli soldiers and also shares his views on American president, Barack Obama's recent trip to Israel.

Friedrich Ebert Foundation

Sorry to hear he was not let in but he is probably better off not having any ties to the Friedrich Ebert Foundation which is an arm of the SPD party and works and receives funding from the CIA since the 1950's and this is well known and they have played an opposition role in Venezuela's Bolivarian revolution and in Spain to name a few.
